I use watercolour and soft pastels to express my love of the peace and magic to be found in the wild. I create peaceful scenes in which people can fund refuge from our busy and chaotic world.
I have over 25 years of experience painting a vast arrange of subject matter. I use layers of colour to build up the image to create depth. Sometimes I add golden highlights or shimmering silver detail to add a touch of magic to the finished original.
My heart lies in painting the deep connection I feel with the spirit of the land in southwest UK.
Walking in the hills and moors or through deep wild forests, or in the low lying wetlands I find inspiration in quiet, peaceful moments or the excitement of the hope of a glimpse of a deer or hare. I am drawn to deep woodland, magical stone circles and the magical landscape around Glastonbury Tor. My favourite moments are seeing a deer or hare in the distance and sharing that moment of magic when we both pause and stare at each other through the woodland. Early morning or evening are my favourite times to walk when the light is soft and the world peaceful.
Many of my paintings are inspired by photos I have taken with my Cannon DSLR, although sometimes a phone snap can be just as inspiring.
I have been painting professionally for over 25 years. My work has been featured in books and diaries (including the wonderful Earth Pathways diary) and one of my woodland paintings was used as the logo for a crystal and spiritual shop.
